Green Vegetarian Cuisine -- Alamo Quarry Market Information

Tucked into the bustling Alamo Quarry Market area, Green Vegetarian Cuisine -- Alamo Quarry Market feels like a refreshing pause from the usual dining options around San Antonio. The location at 255 E Basse Rd is easy to find, with plenty of parking nearby, and once inside, the atmosphere strikes a balance between casual comfort and modern, clean design. It’s the kind of place where both longtime vegetarians and curious first-timers can feel equally at ease.

The menu is where things really get interesting. Instead of leaning too heavily on salads or predictable veggie plates, the kitchen reimagines comfort food in a plant-based way that actually satisfies. Dishes like crispy cauliflower wings and hearty veggie burgers stand out, not just for their creativity but for how well they deliver on flavor and texture. One visit included a vegan chicken-fried steak that managed to capture that familiar Southern crunch while staying entirely meat-free, which isn’t easy to pull off. Their sides, especially the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy, round out the experience with a sense of indulgence you might not expect from a vegetarian spot.

Service tends to be relaxed but attentive. Staff members usually know the menu well and are quick to offer suggestions, especially helpful if you’re new to plant-based dining. During busier hours, the wait can stretch a bit, which seems to be a common note in many reviews, but the overall pace still feels comfortable rather than rushed. It’s a place where you can sit, chat, and enjoy your meal without feeling pressured to move along.

What stands out most is how approachable everything feels. You don’t need to be committed to a vegetarian lifestyle to appreciate what’s on offer here. The flavors are bold, portions are generous, and the variety ensures there’s something for almost everyone, whether you’re craving something light or something deeply satisfying. Based on consistent feedback across multiple diners and repeat visits, it’s clear this spot has carved out a loyal following in the San Antonio food scene, especially for those looking to explore plant-based options without sacrificing taste.

What People's Say About Place

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 Stars – Green Vegetarian, San Antonio Lots of parking and plenty of tables, including a nice outdoor area. I ordered the Green Burger with broccoli (trying to eat healthy) — it tasted great! Meal cost about $15 with tax. Tasty, fresh, and healthy. Definitely would come back again! Support local spots and eat green

Great vegetarian options. We dove into the Chickenless fried steak and it was unbelievably good, great savory sauce. My Orange Tofu was also great, crispy, and the rice was yummy with the broccoli

A pretty good vegan/vege restaurant. I like how you can ask for menus items to be vegetarian, but by design everything is vegan, which makes it easy to order. The portions are fair size, service is very quick and pretty attentive. Lots of parking, a slightly dated space but the team keeps it clean, which is a tick. Gives off a light Mexican vibe and the food has Mexican influence and is pretty fresh. Enjoyed my visit and tipped well. Thank you for a good experience and an easy and quick vegan meal.

My husband is a meat eater but he was willing to try this place with me. We ordered the “big nasty burger” and the “spicy beef salad”. He enjoyed the spicy beef salad and the big nasty burger was just as good. The quinoa they serve with the salad was very good. We also ordered some onion rings they weren’t my favorite but they were ok my husband ate them all. The cucumber infused water was refreshing. We also had a cupcake for dessert and it did not disappoint. The service was great our server was awesome. Definitely recommend Green Cuisine for vegetarians and non vegetarians. We will be coming back.

We stopped in today and tried their famous 3.5-lb cinnamon roll, and it did not disappoint. This thing is absolutely massive, super fresh, and loaded with icing—definitely something you share unless you’re up for a serious challenge. We paired it with their cucumber water, which was refreshing and a perfect balance to such a rich treat. Great vibe, friendly staff, and a fun stop if you’re on the River Walk and want something unique. Highly recommend!

We are not vegetarians by any means but thought we would try something new. We had the BBQ tacos and truffle fries and cucumber water. Everything was very different tasting and unique but full of flavor. We will definitely be back, it was a cool experience to try all vegan items so unique

I always enjoy coming to this Amazing Vegan Restaurant. The Servers are always Awesome, the Manager is always Friendly & the Food are always Scrumptious . If you're new in Town or not. You have to try this place!!!

5 star vegan lunch! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I ordered yesterday 9/3/24 for the first time via Uber Eats & Wow! My order was made accurate & fast! I had a big portion worth my money & couldn’t eat it all. The veggie burger was big & juicy, and the vegan cheese was tasty! I just wish they had regular flat/circular pickle slices(hamburger cut) instead of the spear shaped. The avocado on the burger was added nutrition I enjoyed. The $4 chocolate chip cookie was hard, but after 20 sec. in the microwave it was nice & soft, not as sweet as I like though. I love the sweet potato fries! I definitely will be ordering from here again, but I think I’ll dine in to get that experience next time.
